Doctor of philosophy degree program

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
    Students pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering become independent researchers proficient in applying chemical engineering principles as well as advanced analytical and experimental techniques to address complex, open-ended research challenges. This program prepares students for careers in academia, industry, and government research.

Master’s degree programs

  • Master of Science and Master of Chemical Engineering
    Both the MS and MChE programs are distinguished by their specialized emphasis on computational studies. These programs equip students with essential knowledge in core areas of chemical engineering, including reactor engineering, process systems, and transport phenomena. Both programs aim to nurture proficient engineers with a profound grasp of the foundational principles of chemical engineering, along with a wide array of professional skills and exposure to various technical disciplines.
  • Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering - Chemical Engineering
    Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fueling substantial innovation across products, services, and systems in various industries, giving future AI engineers a significant edge. The MS in AIE-ChE program offers students the chance to acquire cutting-edge expertise in artificial intelligence and apply AI techniques to tackle complex challenges in chemical engineering.
  • Master of Science in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering
    The MS-BTPE program merges the strengths of Carnegie Mellon’s Biological Sciences and Chemical Engineering departments. Students from both disciplines work side-by-side, mirroring the collaborative environment found in the industry.
