Climate change has direct impacts on energy poverty. The Texas 2021 blackout and California wildfires have shown that those in poverty are worse off during manmade and natural disasters. The student will work with the research team to collect, integrate, visualize, and analyze energy data from public agencies and energy companies. The datasets will include energy usage, energy poverty assessments using different metrics, commute time, transit ridership, and changes in weather parameters due to climate change. By integrating this data into an analysis model, the student will be able to help the region understand how climate change will impact the cost of meeting our energy needs in vulnerable populations.
