About Sigma Xi

Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, was founded in 1886 as an honor society for scientists and engineers. Its goal is to enhance the health of the research enterprise, foster integrity in science and engineering, and promote the public's understanding of science for the purpose of improving the human condition. Today there are nearly 18,000 scientists and engineers in more than 500 chapters at academic institutions, government labs, and research centers in the United States, Canada, and other countries, including Switzerland, Thailand, Lebanon, New Zealand, and Australia.

Speaker

The research talk at the ceremony will be by Dr. Compton J. Tucker, Senior Scientist, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA. The talk is titled “The geophysics of observing climate change from satellites.”
